Annual rainfall amounts to 1,185.9 mm, with the rainy season concentrated between July and August.

When to Visit?

Congjiang's climate is pleasant year-round, though the best seasons to stay are spring and autumn. In spring, visitors can enjoy fresh seasonal fruits, while in autumn they have the chance to witness harvest scenes. The town is also accessible in winter, between December and February. For those who love festivals, the Tai Guan Chant festival, celebrated on the 28th day of the lunar calendar, is a must-see. Similarly, the Tai Guan Ren festival, held on the 7th and 8th days of the lunar calendar, attracts many visitors eager for more intimate festive moments. However, it is advisable to avoid the rainy season, as the risk of natural disasters such as debris flows is heightened, making a visit less recommended.

Most travelers heading to Congjiang begin by stopping in Guiyang. Due to the absence of an airport in the county, the best way to arrive by plane is to first fly into Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport. This airport offers numerous daily flights to major cities across China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Chongqing. Once you arrive in Guiyang, you can continue your journey by taking a long-distance bus or high-speed train.

Although Liping Airport is closer to Congjiang, it has only limited flights from Shanghai and Changsha with infrequent service. As for rail transport, the high-speed train is the most convenient way to reach Congjiang. However, it's important to note that Congjiang railway station is far from the city center, requiring approximately 40 minutes by car or 1 hour by direct bus from the bus station. Additionally, long-distance buses are also available from Guiyang, Kaili, Anshun, Rongjiang and Sanjiang, though bear in mind that these train services can be canceled, particularly during low season.

In Congjiang, the best way to get around is on foot, as the town is small and extends along the river, with only two main streets to explore. For those preferring a faster means of transportation, taxis are available from the bus station, allowing easy access to destinations such as the open-air food market. Furthermore, regular buses connect to destinations such as Sandu and Guiyang, offering a convenient and economical way to explore the surroundings while enjoying the region's picturesque scenery.
