In Shenzhen, Splendid China Park reproduces 100 iconic Chinese monuments and 25 ethnic villages across 30 hectares, at a 1/15th scale.

Splendid China Park gathers in a single location a hundred emblematic sites of the country, reproduced in reduced scale. Located in Shenzhen, in Guangdong province, it offers a synthetic journey through the architecture, landscapes and regional cultures of Chine.

Why visit Splendid China Park

This themed park offers a condensed panorama of Chinese heritage across 30 hectares. In half a day, you walk through reproductions of monuments scattered across thousands of kilometers, from the Great Wall to the Potala Palace. The appeal lies as much in the precision of the miniatures as in the ethnographic staging: 25 villages represent the country's main minorities, complete with performances and craft demonstrations. It is a useful educational gateway before a broader trip to Chine, or a self-guided visit for travelers with a short stopover in Shenzhen.

Park history

The site is managed by China Travel Services, one of Chine's leading public tourism operators. Originally, two separate parks coexisted on the same grounds: one space dedicated to miniatures of monuments, and another devoted to ethnic cultures. They were merged in 2003 to form the current ensemble, which now combines architectural visits and cultural programming in a unified route.

What to see on site

The monument miniatures

Approximately 100 attractions are reproduced, most at 1/15th scale, and placed according to their actual geographic position on a stylized map of Chine. Notable attractions include:

  • the Terracotta Army of Xi'an
  • the Great Wall
  • the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven in Beijing
  • the Three Gorges Dam
  • the Potala Palace in Lhasa
  • the Ancient Beijing Observatory
  • a landscape reproduction of the Li River in Guangxi, with its karst peaks

The miniatures are populated by approximately 50,000 ceramic figurines depicting court scenes, markets, processions and agricultural work.

The ethnic villages

The cultural space includes 25 reconstructed villages, illustrating the traditions of Chine's main minorities. You observe vernacular architectures, craft workshops, and regional specialties. Historical and choreographic performances are scheduled on weekends.

The two sections of the park

The site is divided into a tourist area centered on monumental reproductions, and a cultural area dedicated to peoples and craftsmanship. The visit is on foot, but small trains and shuttle vehicles facilitate movement between zones.

Practical information

Nearby

The park is part of the Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) complex, which houses several other leisure and cultural sites. To extend your visit, you can explore central Shenzhen and its shopping districts. If your itinerary takes you further, several sites shown in miniature are worthy of a full-size visit, such as the Great Wall at Juyongguan near Beijing, or the Great Goose Pagoda in Xi'an. Other natural wonders round out this panorama, such as the Longgong Cave in Guizhou or the Hexigten Geopark in Inner Mongolia.
