The Wuhan police in Hubei decided to implement a list of advice for self-defense or preventing rape. The list was then posted at the University of Wuhan and shared by Sina Guangdong (a magazine and newspaper from Guangdong) on its Weibo page.
Here's this rather surprising list, complete with appropriate translations:
(1) Do not take unlicensed taxis. In case you have no choice, make a habit of memorizing the license plate. Sit in the back seat, and pretend to be on the phone. Dialogue: "Honey, come pick me up! The taxi license number is XXX."
(2) Always carry a small can of pepper spray or a small bottle with essential oil lotion that you can spray in an attacker's eyes.
(3) Take out your wallet and throw it far away, rather than resisting your attacker. Dialogue: Go away!
Quite a strange form of defense...
(4) If you wish to photograph someone who seems suspicious to you, you can pretend to be on the phone and discreetly take their photo.
Flashing message: Be careful if you use this method! If you are discovered, you risk serious danger.
(5) Sometimes, your teeth can be more effective than your own hands.
Dialogue: If you're not careful, you might devour your attacker...
(6) Cut your nails this way. A square cut works too... Just don't let them grow too long, or they might break at the wrong moment.
(7) After being attacked, you should defecate or urinate if you can, or stick your fingers down your throat to vomit, so as to disgust your attacker.
The most repulsive and disturbing point on this list.
(8) Always carry a pencil with you (with a sharp tip). It's more convenient than a knife and you can pass through security gates without any problem.
(9) Be ugly, it's the safest advice.
Probably the most relevant advice on this list...
Well... after reading all this, one might think it's a bad joke, but it's not! This list was indeed posted on the university's Weibo page.
