A rather special article today as we have the pleasure of sharing with you a video retracing our last 5 years in Asia!

Obviously, Chine features prominently given it was our first Asian experience, from 2011 to 2013! Two years that allowed us to live and work in Guangzhou in southern Chine and to travel across the country under sometimes epic conditions...

Back then we were freshly graduated and looking to experience something different in a country very far from us both geographically and culturally, convinced that life was not meant to be lived in the same place. It was this experience in Chine that gave us the desire to discover Asia while continuing to work in the web industry.

Travel in Asia

These past 5 years have been remarkably rewarding both professionally and, most importantly, personally—with the wonderful sense of enriching ourselves spiritually through encounters with others and learning more about ourselves with each experience, sometimes challenging, often transformative.

In this video, you'll find a condensed version of unforgettable journeys, meetings with locals, and fabulous landscapes across a multitude of countries, each more captivating than the last: Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Nepal, Mongolia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Chine...

Our only small regret: not having invested in quality equipment back then, as the footage is quite poor compared to what we can shoot today! Nevertheless, we hope you'll enjoy watching and that it will inspire you to embark on your own adventure :) A few sites that featured the video:

We lived and worked in Chine for 2 years, from 2011 to 2013, primarily in Guangzhou in the south of the country. This experience inspired us to continue traveling throughout Asia.

We continued working in the web industry throughout our travels, which allowed us to finance our nomadic lifestyle in Asia for 5 years, combining remote work with the exploration of new countries.

The video is embedded directly in this article. It condenses 5 years and 15 countries into 3 minutes, with footage shot in the field between 2011 and 2016, from Chine to Sri Lanka via Japan and Mongolia.

Our experience has shown us that it's entirely possible to combine web work with travel in Asia. The keys are good organization, reliable internet connection, and choosing countries with affordable cost of living such as Thailand, Cambodia or Malaysia.
