History
Formerly under the control of the Koguryo Kingdom, the Tang Dynasty (618–907) ceded the territory to the regime of Central China.
Since 1988, the state has protected the area, which has become a nature reserve.
Today
The appeal of a trip to Panjin lies in discovering its celebrated red beach. A true natural treasure, the red beach, formed from seaweed called Sueda, is now an important nature reserve.
It is home to an exceptional ecosystem comprising no fewer than 260 bird species and 400 species of wild animals. Some of these species are considered endangered, including the red-crowned crane and the demoiselle crane, both very present in this region. Panjin is even nicknamed the "Crane Capital". Due to this unique animal population and its biological characteristics, the beach has become a highly protected area.
The red color that has made the region so famous comes from this sea plant, Sueda, which in autumn sheds its green hue to take on a magnificent red coat.
There is no question of relaxing your feet in the sand, playing a game of beach volleyball, or dipping your toes in the water. The area has been fitted with wooden boardwalks to observe birds while discovering an almost surreal landscape. The red color strikes you from the very first glance. The waterways that wind between the reddish algae accentuate the enchanting nature of the region and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on your China trip.
Climate
Panjin enjoys a continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. Temperatures are pleasant and sunshine is present for most of the year. The average annual temperature is 10°C. Rainfall is primarily concentrated between June and August during the monsoon season.
